Founder

KOALA KARLOUS

Meet Brandon Hargrave, also known as the founder of Koala Karlous, a talented English musician, songwriter, and producer from St. Albans, Hertfordshire. Brandon first made waves as a member of the Indie Pop group Franklin, which amassed over one million listeners, toured extensively, and sold out venues before Brandon decided to leave the band following his brother Tyler's passing from cancer at the young age of 21.

In 2017, Brandon sought a fresh start and relocated to Cornwall to recharge and reflect on his life. There, he signed with Sony BMG as a songwriter and producer, setting up shop in his apartment overlooking Fistral Beach and recording in studios across Los Angeles. Over the next few years, Brandon wrote for himself and others, amassing over 500 million streams as a ghostwriter while also touring Europe, America, and Australia.

In 2019, upon returning from a lengthy tour, Brandon discovered a mysterious package waiting for him at the local post office in Newquay. Inside was a small stuffed koala bear that he promptly named Karlous. The little bear became a symbol of Brandon's journey and his new artistic venture: producing chill-out music under the name Koala Karlous. To promote his music in a fun and organic way, Brandon opened a chain of Bagel shops across Cornwall, all under the Koala Karlous name.

In 2020, Brandon's career took a new turn as he began to struggle with anxiety and panic attacks. To cope with these challenges, he focused on producing music that would soothe and calm his listeners. This new music was released independently under the Koala Karlous, and it quickly found a devoted following among fans seeking a sense of calm in a chaotic world.
